The show must go on. His heart was pounding, and his hands were trembling. He tried to catch his breath. He tried to shake away the image. It kept returning, and it was poison. His wife in another man’s arms. Had he become a joke? Was he a clown or a man?

La TraviataBy Giuseppe Verdi

How silly he was, boldly declaring his love like that. Surely, he understood her position. He had to know that none of this was really hers–the apartment in Paris, the latest fashions, the jewelry. Marķa de Buenos AiresBy Astor Piazzolla
July 25 and 27

In a special event coinciding with its 2012 season, Cincinnati Opera and concert:nova will present María de Buenos Aires, a sultry Spanish “tango operita” that promises to be an electrifying and provocative theatrical experience. The tale follows the surreal journey of a woman seduced by the passion of tango into a dangerous life in the underworld of Buenos Aires. The intimate, fully staged production will bring singers and dancers close to the audience in the nontraditional setting of the Music Hall Ballroom, with music performed by concert:nova.
