In a special event coinciding with its 2012 season, Cincinnati Opera and concert:nova will present María de Buenos Aires, a sultry Spanish “tango operita” that promises to be an electrifying and provocative theatrical experience. The tale follows the surreal journey of a woman seduced by the passion of tango into a dangerous life in the underworld of Buenos Aires. The intimate, fully staged production will bring singers and dancers close to the audience in the nontraditional setting of the Music Hall Ballroom, with music performed by concert:nova.
